CryptomarketA new documentary series has premiered on the Discovery Science channel, providing insight into the cryptocurrency sector and blockchain technology.

The show, entitled Open Source Money began on Friday and will run throughout the summer.

“The new series gives viewers insight into the cryptocurrency ecosystem by talking with a number of digital currency experts and luminaries like Brock Pierce and Charles Hoskinson,” reported Bitcoin.com.

“The focus of the story is mainly about the Dragonchain (DRGN) initial coin offering (ICO) and how the project’s creators had to deal with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).”

Discovery, according to its website, has an 81 million U.S. network audience and six million in Canada. Outside the U.S., 2019 data shows that the Discovery network has well over 450 million viewers worldwide. Discovery Science is a subsidiary of the Discovery network of channels.

A review of the first major crypto documentary on Coin Telegraph read: “Despite being a fully paid-up card-carrying hater of all things reality TV, incorporating the human aspect really made the show a compelling watch. It also elevated the series to more than just another dry documentary about cryptocurrency.

The reviewer added: “The balance, in the first two episodes at least, between accessible crypto 101, commentary on the current uncertain state of U.S. regulation, and human drama as Dragonchain fights for its very survival, worked very well.

“I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how the series progresses, and firmly recommend giving it a watch.”

Of the show, the series own website says: “Overall humanity is at a crossroads and the future of money as we know it will be transformed by Blockchain and the new internet of Value.

“The only question is, where will the U.S. stand in the Space Race of our generation when the dust settles?”
