France’s central bank is looking to hire a blockchain analyst to help define a program for implementing cryptocurrency.

Listed under the Financial Stability and Operations branch of Banque de France, the bank is seeking an analyst with crypto-economics, game theory and public or private blockchain experience.

In addition, the bank is hiring a development engineer to analyse the application of blockchain to key banking functions, reports Coin Desk.

Banque de France cited Quorum, Hyperledger and Corda as private blockchain experience examples, and Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains as public blockchain experience examples.

Furthermore, the bank requires the analyst to experiment with other blockchain specialists within the eurosystem and blockchain proof of concepts inside and outside the bank.
In the past, France’s central bank has been focused on blockchain rather than Bitcoin.

Back in December 2016 the bank operated a digital identity trial that tested the utilisation of blockchain in the management of identification markers used to establish the identity of creditors within the Single Euro Payments Area, says the Coin Desk report.

Following this trial, it was announced that the governor of the bank would open a fintech innovation lab, including blockchain startups.

In September, Bruno Le Maire, France’s Minister of the Economy and Finance urged the European Union to develop a “public digital currency” which likely means the central bank digital currency (DBCD) reports Tokenpost. 

Moreover, France is trying to enhance education on blockchain technology, beginning in high school. According to a CCN report earlier this month: “The syllabus of Economics and Social Sciences course includes Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. The digital assets will be covered as teachers educate students on the topic of what are currencies and how are they created. One of the topic’s objectives is to help students learn the functions and forms of money.”
